Priestly Ordination of Rev. Fr. Alvin Ho SJ on 3.12.08

Deacon Alvin Ho’s ordination as a priest makes him the 3rd SFX parishioner to be ordained into the priestly order, and the 2nd sfx home grown Jesuit priest. The ordination celebration was held on Wednesday 3.12.08 at the 6.00 pm Eucharistic celebration to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Patron of Missions and also the patron saint of our Church. His Grace Archbishop Murphy Pakiam, the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur was the ordinating prelate in the presence of fellow Jesuits and Diocesan priests and also Brothers and Sisters from the various religious orders.

The turnout for this ordination was observed to be the biggest in the history of SFX according to parish priest, Rev. Fr. Simon Yong SJ; thanks to the twin celebration of SFX Feast Day and the occasion of a priestly ordination. Members of Rev. Alvin's family and friends were also present.

Fr. Alvin Ho in his thanks giving speech thanked His Grace Archbishop Murphy Pakiam for ordaining him. He also thanked his parents and family members and also his fellow Jesuits for supporting him throughout his nearly 12 years of preparation to become a priest. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to Fr.Phillips Muthu for kindly consenting to be the MC, the ordination organizing committee of SFX Church and all the faithful who have turned out to support and witness his ordination.

After Mass the congregation adjourned for dinner which was hawker style fare consisting of local delicacies like char koay teow, roti jala, fried chicken, popiah, satay, mee curry, ice-kacang and syrup drinks. Rev. Fr. Alvin Ho SJ took the opportunity to mingle with the crowd and to impart his blessings. Later during the evening Fr. Alvin was presented with a cake which was decorated with the words "A Priest Forever".
