SS2 Zone BECs Morning Walk on 21.6.08(Saturday)

The SS2 Zone BECs of St Anne, St John and St Michael organised a walk around the Taman Aman lake, followed by breakfast, on June 21 (Sat). Sixty people took part in the event (depending on individual preference) including 12 boys from Rumah Pengajian Xavier and their supervisors, Francis Lai and Cherie Wu who were special guests. In fact, the boys arrived before 7am, earlier than most of the BEC members. For many of the BEC members, this was the first time they visited the park although everyone lives nearby! Many were in awe of the beauty of the place which had good jogging and walking tracks and also exercise machines and contraptions installed throughout the park for people to exercise in between walks and jogs.

Maria Fei de Souza who is the SS2 Zone Social Concern Coordinator said the opening prayer before the group trooped off, using different routes.

The three main organisers for the event were Fei, Paschal Heng (St Anne) and Margaret Leong (St John), the social concern coordinators for the respective BECs. Fei encouraged the members to take the opportunity to get to know each other from the different BECS. Name stickers were given to every walker, to facilitate interaction with each other.Incidentally, the zone walk followed closely an earlier event, which was the BEC Zone Mass held on May 30th, 2008.

For breakfast, food was abundant. There was the choice of spicey and tangy mee siam, the fragrant nasi lemak, and the dainty egg sandwich. For drinks, there was the choice of packet Milo, and herbal drinks, and of course, plain water.Small gifts were given out to the boys from Rumah Pengajian Xavier and select members of the BECs, at the end of breakfast.

The Zone is now so motivated that they are now gearing for another zone event - to visit the Little Sisters of the Poor in October.
