16.5.08 - Holy Hour for Vocations

“friends of Jesus”, the Jesuit Vocation Promotion Team organised another Holy Hour for Vocations on Friday 16.5.08 evening at Ricci Hall, SFX Church to encourage SFX parishioners and Catholics in general to come together to pray for more vocations to the priestly and religious orders.

Rev. Fr. Larry Tan SJ, the Jesuits’ Regional Superior and Vocation Promoter lead all present in silent adoration during the Exposition Of The Blessed Sacrament which was interspaced with Taize Chant, Singing of Hymns, Gospel Reading, and Prayers of Intercession.

During the sharing session, Rev. Fr. Anthony Heng, a CDD priest who was ordained last year, shared the story of his journey to become a priest, which started with him being exposed to church activities from young.

Benediction and Veneration of the Blessed Sacrament then followed and ended with Procession for the Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church.

Fellowship was held at the end of the prayer session.

20.4.08-RCIA's Mystagogy session

The recent Easter Baptised neophytes attended the Mystagogy session on 20.4.08 which was specially held for the neophytes to get to know more about the various parish works done through the BECs and Parish groups. In welcoming the neophytes, Rev. Fr. Simon Yong SJ called on them to come forward to to serve as a response to their acceptance of the Catholic Faith. Several Parish Groups were present to help the neophytes to discern which area of calling were awaiting them as the began to live out their faith.

Introduction to the Parish organisational set-up was done by Mr Lawrence Loh the Parish Pastoral Council Chairman. Several groups from the various Commissions were present and each group were alloted tables for them to promote their respective pastoral work, ranging from areas of worship and evangelisation to issues such as promoting family life, helping the poor and needy, social justice problems and also to be in solidarity with the differrently abled. Notable groups present were the Charismatic Prayer Group, Marian Devotion, Family Life, DAWN, Emmaus Centre, Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP), REACH and WHEELS, LifelIne and Lifeteen.

Before the neophytes were lead by their respective RCIA facilitators to visit the various groups, they were shown how to use the Sacrament of Reconciliation to come back to God if they had committed . The RCIA facilitators also had accumulated photos from the beginning of the journey of faith till the baptism and the photo albums were made available for the neophytes to buy.
