The President of the Conference Bro Alvin Rajan Ratnasingam conducted the meeting which included tabling of the previous year’s minutes, the current year’s report of the activities and also its income and expenditure statements which have been duly audited by the public accounting firm of Yee Choon Kong & Co.

As this year was an election year, Bro Emmanuel Culas was invited to conduct the elections. Bro Alvin Rajan Ratnasingam was re-elected as the President for the 2nd term of 2009/2010, with the Treasurer Sis Anna Cheoh also relected for another new term. Newly elected Secretary is Sis Margaret Yong who took over from Sis. Anna Hew and newly elected Vice President is Bro Melvin Victor who succeeds Sis Olivia Lim. Sis Khor Mei Dee was appointed the RPX Home Committee Chairperson, taking over from Sis. Catherine De Cruz.

Our dear Padre Rev. Fr. Simon Yong SJ who had a heavy Saturday schedule was able to make time to address the AGM. In his address he recorded his thanks to the members for continuing to serve the poor and encouraged them to still do more for the needy especially in these times of the economic downturn.

The State Council representatives also addressed the AGM. Amongst the points raised included extending their Xavier News letter to other conferences too, look into the need to visit not only the adoptees but also the families of the children taken in by RPX and also to implement the twinning programs of the society which could be done by regular donations to the poorer conferences.

Before the AGM ended and adjournment to a nearby restaurant for tea, it recorded its appreciation and bade farewell to Bro Tony Carlisle who was returning to Adelaide to pursue a 3 year PhD programme in medical engineering.
